I grew up in a military family – my father was a MSgt in the United States Air Force. Even as a young child, I was very active in sports. Growing up on a military base gave me a chance to interact with a diverse group of people. I moved to Burlington at the start of my secondary education. I excelled on and off the court, and I was able to achieve some regional success in the area of Basketball. I earned full ride Basketball scholarship to Furman University.
Once I had my diploma in hand, I moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where I started my career as a personal trainer. For the past 6 years now, I have trained all types of individuals at all different fitness levels, and I love it. Everyday I wake up thinking, "Who can I help reach their health and fitness goals?"
I spent the fall and winter of 2011 interning at Impact Basketball, in Las Vegas, under the guidance of Dave Stagnita. At Impact I received first hand- experience with professional and celebrity workouts. But, I moved back to Burlington because I quickly realized that I could use my experience, and the gifts and talents God has given me to make an impact in my own community.
I started my own business which allows me to do personal training and basketball skill developement. I love every minute of being an independent professional trainer and the freedom of being my own boss.
Am I a professional trainer?
Yes. I have a Bachelors Degree in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University. I have 6 years of personal training experience working with a variety of clients at different fitness levels. I am also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-PES).
Why should I spend money on a personal trainer? I can do it by myself.
Of course, you can train alone. But I believe that my main purpose is to motivate you and develop a customized training program with you that corresponds to your requirements, problems, and goals. In addition, I am mainly your advisor. I can detect when your posture is not quite right or when you are putting too much pressure on the wrong muscles. I will show you the right exercise for you and provide a safe environment for you that you feel comfortable exercising in.
How often do I have to or can I train with you?
That is entirely up to you and depends on the amount of time you have and how committed you are. Usually, I train with my clients at least twice a week.
